Holistic Review C: clinics & practitioners for natural health & alternative medicine.

Professional advice is basic for health maintenance and emergencies.

    1. In our opinion, it is equally ideal to consult a first rate conventional doctor who is tolerant about alternatives--or a good "holistic" doctor who actively prescribes alternatives.

If limited to one doctor, it is a highly individual question which to choose. Either doctor needs to be told all that you are doing for your health.

    2. Currently, our primary suggestion for in-patient alternative medicine is International Bio Care (IBC) of Tijuana, Mexico.

Their cost starts at about US$3,000 for one week. This appears to be at the lowest cost level for any in-patient alternative care anywhere. IBC is nonetheless our most highly rated alternative health clinic. They are careful about their choices, always quick to incorporate the latest methods, and one of few clinics that specialize in clinical alternatives which you can not do at home.

    3. Please be aware of special pros and cons to an alternative clinic outside the USA.

The biggest problems are:

    *   You can not expect any consumer protection rights or malpractice settlements.
    *   You can not expect insurance coverage. IBC can refer you to third party claim assistance. For Blue Cross holders, this sometimes results in about 50% coverage. However this is very uncertain.
    *   Often you can not expect high quality conventional treatment at the same time. However IBC is close to San Diego. This area has among the highest standards of medical resources in the country. It is possible to stay at a San Diego hospital, receiving conventional treatment under insurance coverage, while also visiting IBC.

The advantages are:

    *   Probably half the cost of similar treatment within the USA.
    *   Access to Holistic alternatives not legal in the USA.
    *   Access to Holistic alternatives legal in the USA, but unavailable at the same quality. For example, IBC has an unusually effective nutritional I.V. to maintain strength during radiation and chemotherapy.
